Aftermath of the Feminist Surge

A fortnight has passed since the Delhi gang-rape incident and all the brouhaha has culminated in the death of the innocent victim in a foreign hospital and the implementation of section 144 in Delhi . Now the million dollar question staring at our country is " What now ?? " . Do we go back to our mundane lives of negligence and indifference or do we capitalize on this national momentum to actually propel our country to a new level of moral awareness ?

It is now upon us to bring about a change in our minds and to turn these thoughts into an actual physical quantifiable thing . People say dont shame the victim shame the rapists . That will only lead to the generation of a new breed of people who wont even feel remorse for their crimes & hateful acts . Admonishing a person will not convert his mind , but having a healthy " live and let live " attitude will . Punitive action against a criminal is not the best corrective action . The aim should be to nip the problem in the bud and reduce the number of such vile incidences . As is said " Prevention is better than cure " , the target should be a society where crime is at a minimal level .

It is now upon us as a society in the throes of moral change to protest against the discrepancies in our democracy and straighten out the kinks in society . Only when this happens can we as a country progress towards becoming a respectable state in the affairs of the globe . It is now our turn to stand up for our rights and prove the crown of " Ignited Minds " bestowed by Dr A P J Abdul Kalam to be worthy  of our actions .

A Digital Dilemma : To Like or To Share ?

The advent of a gazillion number of network sites with a legion of fancy apps and frankly useless features has given rise to a new breed of delusional people . The psychological effect of this new illusion is truly remarkable . Sane people with rational thought processes now believe that they can help people half way across the world in a third world country improve their life by " liking " a post . This leads me to raise a question in my own mind " Are we Really That Dumb ? "

Any person with a single digit IQ and a speck of common sense can tell that a button click on Facebook isn't going to help in reality while we ourselves lounge on the sofa with all possible luxuries possible for us and then some .. Then why is it that more and more people are being sucked into this loop of tomfoolery and make believe ? Is it because we truly believe in the thing that we support or is it because of the herd mentality that plagues the majority of the people ? " Oh i don't know anything about gun control but a million people are supporting it , why shouldn't I ?? " .

Infinite number of likes or shares don't mean a thing because there is a difference in the digital & the real world . A like wont help a little girl suffering from cancer , it wont stop rape from happening and it wont feed malnourished African children . True inclination and desire to bring about a change will never be reflected in the digital networking world . It will be reflected by the efforts you take to see your dream become reality . So if you want to see changes in society go out and start preaching them . As Mahatma Gandhi said

" BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD ".

The Fairer Sex Is Fair No More

We as Indians have a strong set of beliefs . We preach gender equality and women empowerment and respect for the fair gender is one of the first things taught to us in our childhood . This puts me and all the rational thinkers who have grown up with these set of moral ethics to raise a question " What the hell is happening around us ? "

The country which once was a safe haven for females is now on its way to becoming a despicable nightmare . Abuse & domination of women is becoming a national trend . The capital of the country now holds the title of being the least safe city for women . The events of rape and physical abuse taking place in metropolitan cities considered to be civilized and cultured are being treated with such callousness and disregard that our belief system and ideologies may be on the brink of disintegrating . The horrific incident of Aryanka Hozbektar and the treatment of women in the Mankhurd Shelter Home are some of the recent examples that display disregard for the well being of women . The horrific case of the gang rape of a student in Delhi just a few days ago only provides concrete proof to that thought .  Now the questions plaguing the people are " Where is the line drawn ? Where do these senile acts stop ? are we even safe in the sanctity of the four walls we call our home ?

As a well rounded citizen and a individual with a rational mindset , I am appalled by the recent spate of events and i truly believe that each day spent contemplating action instead of performing it is a step not into the future but into the binding past that once besieged our glorious country . We are on the precipice of anarchy and the decisions we make decide whether we regain our sanity or go overboard .
